My approach to this, as is my approach with much of portraiture, is seeing something that gives me inspiration and a vision. In this case it was overgrown weeds in my back yard. From it, I was inspired to create an image that embraces the framing nature provides. What came to mind was the Victorian Era and Rococo art which combines beautiful nature elements and an elegant subject. Though I enjoy being the subject of my own portrait taking, my sister Gabrielle Olsen was a wonderful model for this piece.
